My Secret 7 Glow Products #9

I was first introduced to the concept of a “glow product” when Charlotte Tilbury launched her range. She was one of the first make-up artists who championed the concept of this glow-base to your make-up preparation. Since then, many brands have launched their own products.

Generally, a glow product does not contain SPF, neither does it come in a variety of shades. If you use a lot of Vitamin-C and skin resurfacing products that contain alpha and beta hydroxy acids, and you exfoliate your skin, you might already have this natural sense of glow; then consider going for one of the least shinier versions like Paula’s Choice.

If you suffer from oilier complexion, you might just want to apply your glow product on your cheeks and your forehead, but avoid your chin and nose. On your naturally shiny areas you can use a blurring product on top like the L’Oreal Nude Magique Blur Cream.

When using a glow product I tend to apply it over my serum/SPF, and before my concealer/tinted moisturiser/foundation. There are many tinted moisturisers that contain a little glow, but they are far more subtle than any of these products. If you are already a convert, I hope you discover some new products to try, and if this is a potentially new part of your make-up regime, enjoy experimenting.

Rosie For Autograph- Amazing Radiance Cream

Coming off the back of her successful lingerie collection, former Victoria Secret model Rosie-Hutington-Whitely partnered up with Marks & Spencer again and launched her make-up line last year.  This Amazing Radiance Cream from this range is described on their website as “A light-weight brightening cream for instant radiance”- and that is exactly what it does ladies- putting a little bit of extra reflective light onto the face. It’s not one for coverage but it works incredibly well to regain youthfulness in your complexion to get that natural dewy glow we all want.

Why I Love it?

Contains tomato leaf cell culture extract that has a small source of Vitamin-C- especially helpful on the days where my skin just feels tired and glow-free, this product brings it back to life.

NIOD – Photography Fluid, Opacity 12%

NIOD (Non Invasive Options in Dermal Science) is one of the 10 brands of the inventive Toronto-based company DECIEM- founded in 2013 by the entrepreneur Brandon Truaxe. As a company they focus on putting single-key ingredients into each of their ranges. This serum-like treatment contains Seed Oil and Fruit Extracts- that give your skin that luminosity and help correct any discolouration. They call it the “selfie fluid”, giving your skin an instant instagramable filter.

Why I love it?

You can mix it in with your moisturiser to control your amount of “glow”.

Studio 10- Youth Lift Glow-Plexion

The successful entrepreneur and founder, Grace Fodor, may not be a make-up artist or dermatologist, but has worked alongside both to create this innovative range in order to discover the aesthetics of make-up to conceal and cover the signs of ageing. This product contains hyaluronic acid, Vitamin-C and Vitamin-E that aid to give a glow and hydrate your skin.

Why I love it?

Gives a subtle glow with a tint of colour and contains good skincare ingredients that are not just make-up.

Paula’s Choice – Resist Pure Radiance Skin Brightening Treatment

Paula Begoun was a radio and talk show host who always felt uncomfortable about her skin- suffering from both acne and eczema as a child. Motivated by her skin struggles she developed her own range of skincare products, working alongside a team of cosmetic chemists. This product is filled of vitamin and plant-based ingredients that refine your skin tone, allowing a more youthful and radiant complexion. It’s a light texture, fragrant free and contains ceramide to help plump up and replenish the skin.

Why I love it?

The texture is fabulous, feels great on the skin and it blends beautifully. It is so unbelievably soft.

Charlotte Tilbury – Wonderglow Face Primer

This was Charlotte Tilbury’s first hero product. Wonderglow is more about the luminosity than the coverage- it’s a perfect primer under your foundation- you could even use it just with concealer if you want more of a natural, dewy look. Contains rosehip and camellia oils.

Why I love it?

The original glow product and sits in the middle of the glow-bar of these Secret 7.

Dr Lancer – Dani Glowing Skin Perfector

Dr Lancer wouldn’t create any product unless it also had a good skincare benefits. So out of all these listed, if you want good skincare ingredients, I would recommend this one. Glowing Skin was created for his wife Dani, who I have had the pleasure of meeting and her skin looked incredible. It consists of Aloe Vera, a plant extract containing beta-carotene, which is known to have a great ability to regenerate skin cells, revitalising your complexion.

Why I love it?

I love that it has skincare properties in the product so, again,  I am getting more than just make-up.

Le Metier de Beaute is a luxurious and innovative skincare and cosmetics brand, founded by Richard Blanch in 2007. Although pricey, the product is filled with the anti-aging ingredient, retinol (but as with many luxury brands they do not specify in the detail…) which can aid in superficially smoothing out your lines, and evening out your skin tone.

Why I love it?

It makes your skin feel fantastic and also contains SPF 18, low but good for winter months.
