My Secret 7 (11…) Tinted Moisturisers #6

What can you wear during the day that is not a foundation, but is protecting your skin and giving you a glowing look?

Today we’re discussing CC creams and some of you might wonder what a CC cream actually is – Colour Corrector, Complete Corrector, Complexion Corrector? The way I look at it, a CC cream benefits from an SPF, especially if you don’t want to be layering on too many creams, or live in a climate with permanent sunshine…

Below you can find my favourite tinted moisturisers as well as my new discoveries….

It Cosmetics – Your Skin But Better CC Cream – SPF50 (I use it in Fair)

This CC cream comes in 5 shades, doesn’t crease and instantly camouflages all skin imperfections. It acts like 7 products in one. It has a full coverage with a SPF 50 sunscreen, it’s brightening, anti-ageing, pore minimising, and you can use it either as dark spot corrector and/or day moisturiser. Incredibly smart.

This is the product that if you live in hotter countries you should definitely be looking for. It is also good for people who have rosacea, indeed the  founder Jamie Lima, a successful TV anchor woman, suffered from bad rosacea in the past so she was looking for  an alternative product for herself when she was in front of the camera, and in public appearances so she did her research, consulted experts amongst doctors and dermatologists and IT cosmetics was born.

It Cosmetics stands for innovative technology cosmetics. Also sold on QVC.

Why I love it?

It blends and covers exceptionally well, it actually feels like a full coverage product, even if it’s just a CC cream. Usually I start from my cheek and blend outwards, as this technique helps me to avoid using too much product around my nose area and  in the creases of acne scarring around my chin. Please avoid applying it with a sponge or a brush (a beehive of bacteria) – just use clean hands!

No. 7 Youthful CC Cream

This CC cream contains light diffusing soft focus pigments, which help to even skin tone and correct uneven pigmentation. The Hyalouronic Acid is a light moisturiser that helps making the skin look brighter, as well as giving a youthful radiance. Sadly this products has only 2 shades, fair and medium. They  definitely need to introduce a third shade as any skin from caramel onwards might find the medium shade too light.

Why I love it?

The texture is perfect, it rubs in incredibly well and has no scent. I love the look and feel on my skin, and  in winter sun I only need a SPF15 so  this is the product.

If you have really really sensitive skin, both La Roche Posay and Avene are great brands to look into. Down side: like many French pharmacy companies they mainly cater for lighter skins tones.

Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturising Balm (I use extra light, I also have light and light to medium)

Bobbi Brown has a very inclusive range for all skin colours. The tinted moisturising balm blends easily and leaves a dewy finish. Its argireline peptide boosts the skin’s natural collagen production and clary sage ferment strengthens skin’s protective moisture barrier. Comes in 7 shades, and it’s SPF25.

Why I love it?

My lovely friend Pia converted me to this cream. This tinted moisturiser and balm has a rich, emollient balm texture. When I am on holiday and I am going out in the evening, I use this product on bare skin and forego the rest of my regime because it is so wonderfully moisturising… It has a good enough SPF for afternoon, evening sun on holiday. The smell is exquisite, lemony with a freshness similar to her skincare range.

Dr Hauschka – Tinted Day Cream

One of my favorite organic brands – this rich, yet light moisturizer is such an easy-go-to product that supports the skin’s natural oil and moisture production. I love the fact this company has been going since the 1930’s and their skincare range since the 1960’s and they are still totally organic, with the same ingredients, harvested from the same fields and made in the same le perfect for an afternoon to evening touch-up face routine.

Avene Hydrance Optimal Skin tone Perfectant – Rich

Hydrance skin tone perfector is a mattifying moisturiser for normal to combination skin that brings immediate and long-lasting hydration. But it also comes in rich – which is for more dehydrated, dryer complexions. It unifies the complexion using transparent mineral pigments to reflect light and coloured pigments that adapt to your skin tone and blur imperfections, for naturally glowy skin. SPF 30.

Why I love it?

Highly moisturising, this tinted moisturiser has a really wonderful yet healthy and subtle smell and blends incredibly easily.  Smooth finish, gives plumpness and hydration to the skin.

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue

Tinted hydrating gel cream. SPF 30 and comes in 16 shades.

Formulated with olive-derived squalene, marine botanicals, hydrating humectants trehalose and glycerine and coconut-derived ingredients, this product is immensely hydrating to the skin. It provides a sheer coverage but it creates a natural, dewy look.

Why I love it?

I tend to avoid BareMinerals as I don’t like powder based products but I began using this product when my normal tinted moisturiser was not available and I was having my make-up done for This Morning. I was actually surprised by its finishing glow and it comes in so many shades so is suitable for all. I use Natural 05.

Embryolisse Soin Correcteur de Teint

Embryolisse is a premium skincare brand developed in Paris over sixty years ago. This product contains self-adjusting pigments in order to match your natural tone. It re-plumps skin and helps to protect against premature ageing.

Why I love it ?

This is my current go to tinted moisturiser and SPF 20 cream. It comes in just one shade with build-able coverage, yet it is light, and gives the skin that glowy natural look without making you look like a ‘cake face’.

They use it on the catwalks to make model look nice… French company, only one bloody shade.

I love it, the smell is Devine, the product is quite expensive for how much it is (£18) but really nice discovery.

L’OREAL Nude Magique Blur Cream instant Flawless Perfector

Drugstore brand for oily combination skin. It’s something you have to press into your skin first to absorb the oil and I do a slight motion of press-pat-press-pat that you can see in the video… this enables to penetrate down instead of rubbing it across. It gives a blurring glowing complexion. You told me ladies that for some of you this doensn’t last all day long.

La Roche Posay Effaclar BB Blur – Instant Oil Absorbing Coverage Cream Mousse (in fair/light shade)

Andalou Naturals, CC 1000 Roses, Color + Correct, Sheer Nude SPF 30, Sensitive

An organic product from Andalou’s tinted range, which blends superfruit antioxidants with botanical moisturisers and SPF 30 protection. It contains self-adjusting mineral-tint colour for a beautiful sheer coverage.

Why I love it?

Though the BB cream is somewhat more moisturising, the coverage is equally as great and creates a mattifing finish if that is what you like. It is ideal for oily or combination skin and it is a light, easy product to introduce to your daily facial regime.

SUNDAY RILEY Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer

Available in three sheer shades (Light, Medium and Deep). An oil-free, oxygen-rich primer which contains Hyaluronic Acid to keep the skin hydrated and Anti-glycation Peptides which  help to boost cell regeneration and counteract the deterioration of collagen and elastin fibres. Can be worn on its own or as a base before applying foundation but either way it is the perfect lightweight tinted moisturiser that cares for your complexion whilst disguising imperfections.

Why I love it?

Sunday packs so many amazing ingredients into her products and uses the best ingredients available, such as Rejuvenox which keeps the primer well ventilated so the skin can breathe (hence the hefty price tag!). Even though this is a primer, it corrects the appearance of blemishes, shadows and broken capillaries without clogging pores or exacerbating oily skin conditions. This is no-make-up make-up at its best!
