Ladies, I have returned to my local village in the French Alps, finding time to make a visit to my all time favourite local pharmacy. What I love about local pharmacies, is that because they are independent, they have the opportunity to buy whatever they like and each one therefore has lovely interesting things.
Below I have listed some of my favourite products..
It’s always a joy to see a bigger range of one of my favourite brands, La Roche- Posay which is a French pharmaceutical brand. They have different ranges that target almost all types of skin issues. As a pharmaceutical brand, they first begun focusing on medicinal products, but now specialise more in beauty and skincare. Below are some of my favourite.
This is a retinol-based range that corrects the appearance of wrinkles and pigmentation.
Contains 0.3% retinol which boosts and helps in resurfacing the skin tone. This is a great starting cream as it has low levels of retinol. Retinol is a form of Vitamin A, which is a small type of molecule that can penetrate through the layers of the skin and travel deeper into the epidermis, in turn giving way for the healthy cells to rise and reach the upper layer of the skin.
A range that aims to increases volume and elasticity of dry skin.
A key in this product is the xylose anti-aging ingredient called pro-xylane. This is a new formula that Lancome has developed in 2006, specifically for women over forty. It works by transmitting nerve signals to the younger cells to produce more collagen therefore increasing the elasticity and adding more volume to the skin.
A body range of emollients for very dry-prone skin.
Some of us might suffer from dry skin all year around while others only have problems during the winter season. This great new product, Lipikar Baume AP+ targets flare-ups of severe dryness and hydrates the skin instantly. The key ingredient that makes this balm so magical are the Aqua posae filiformis, which works to restore the skin’s natural barrier against pathogens that would normally cause irritation.
Targets dark spots and uneven skin tone.
I use this in the sun along with Heliocare 360 gel. This corrective daily moisturiser with SPF 30 protection targets the appearance of dark spots, making the complexion look more radiant. It contains a key ingredient called PhE-Resorcinol, a compound that is rich with ferulic acid and ginkgo. Ginkgo is a plant extract that contains high levels of quercetin, a common powerful antioxidant that helps remove dead skin cells and dark patchy areas.
Designed for very sensitive skin. It’s good for allergic and atopic skin and claims to make the sensitive skin less sensitive over time.
I love this mini travel size mascara as it brings volume to your eyelashes, it contains Ceramide which acts like a glue to hold onto water molecules, forming a protective layer that hydrates the lashes and retains moisture. This mascara contains arginine and pro-vitamin B5 which also strengthens for more visible and thicker lashes.
The ingredients which make up this cream include shea butter and soothing thermal spring water. Shea butter is a superfood, naturally rich in vitamins A and E which hydrates and nourishes dry skin.
Aims to tackle tired and de-hydrated looking skin.
This is a great re-hydrating mask that soothes and nourishes dry skin. Thermal spring water has therapeutic properties that tackle congested and dehydrated skin as it’s naturally pure and rich in mineral salts. I love this mask because it’s easy to use, smells neutral but pleasant.
Nuxe is a skincare brand that was discovered in the 1990s by an inspiring female entrepreneur Aliza Jabes. Most of her products are plant based. I love their products primarily because of the distinctive smell of Rose petals and miraculous benefits on not only skin, but hair.
This range has an interesting story behind it. In 1736 upon discovery, thermal springs appeared to hold special healing powers when a horse that suffered from itchy skin, was cured by bathing in this river. Avene caters for extremely sensitive skin and their products are strictly hypoallergenic.
This brand started in the 1920s and all their products are based on herbs and flowers. The lavender oil is delicious and the rosemary is ideal if you want a kind of revival. This oil is ideal after a day of skiing for a relaxing bath before bed.
Contains rosemary oil, a natural ingredient which acts like a stimulant to promote blood circulation. This helps reduce soreness and tension when you are tired. This bath product contains rosemary oil which comes from a plant extract. They are milks rather than oils so they don’t leave that greasy feeling on you skin
Another genuine product that I love from this range is the Huile relaxante a la lavande body oil. This lavender oil is brilliant to use when you want to relax after a long and stressful day at the office. It has outstanding soothing properties and encourages harmony between the body and the mind.
Klorane is a brand that holds a great passion for plants and nature. It was founded in 1965 after a group of botanists and pharmacists observed and cultivated plants, to extract the original active ingredients that make up their wonderful hair products.
I love this convenient product as it is ideal for those in a hurry every morning.
P.s Ladies I apologise for the bad video quality, the service in my local village was not that great..
