Colour Blocking For Every Size

Spring is on its way and this means bringing colour back into our wardrobes. On This Morning I dressed three lovely ladies of different shapes and sizes in bright and block colours – I think it’s all about thinking of shades of colours we can wear that makes us feel alive.

Above we have Janine, 49, glowing in tangerine. This illuminating colour is wonderful with her blonde hair and green-blue eyes- which actually look even greener with the tangerine. When you are someone who suits orange, wearing the colour will just light up your face. Janine looks so lively in the orange top, from Topshop, and Dorothy Perkins coat, paired cleverly with Burgundy trousers from River Island. What’s great about the trousers on Janine, is even though they’re floppy- they fall beautifully disguising what might be a leg you don’t want in the dare of the fabric. Bring the look together with a cool trainer, from Dune. So vibrant.

Here we have Charmaine, 33,  looking amazing in this acid greeny-yellow jacket, from River Islanda normally very tricky colour to wear, but her warm brown skin tone just compliments this colour so well – also very good with olive skin and even a pale alabaster, but very tricky on a lot of in-between tones. Wearing an equally strong shade high up on the neck-like the turquoise green origami top Charmaine is wearing from Topshop – will diffuse the strength of the bold yellow colour. wearing these tones with Khaki really brings this normally wintery green shade into spring with a vengeance. Accessorising the look with a khaki bag, from Matalan, and a subtle leopard print shoes from Next pulling the look together.

If you have a curvier figure or fuller chest, colour blocking might  scare you- don’t let it. Rachel is a curvy size 16 and looks fabulous in this all-green toned outfit – top from Cosjacket from Topshop. Cleverly tucking the shirt in one side and draping it over the stomach gets you an elongated leg. A necklace trick for bigger-chested curvy ladies is to wear one that falls about two inches above your belly-button this height it will elongate your torso, and make you look more svelte. Trousers are Next, paired with Primark shoes and accessorised with a bag from Mango.

I am wearing a metallic top from COS layered on top of a Christopher McCane bell sleeved shirt. Coulottes, gilet and strappy shoes from from Zara.
